Exciting news! The brilliant and glamorous Sarah Gurfield will be directing THE TUTOR in September. We're thrilled to be working with her, and if you take a look at Sarah's accomplishments you'll see why:
An SDCF Observership Award winner, Ms. Gurfield recently directed I Do! I Do! for Berkshire Theatre Festival; A Streetcar Named Desire and Bat Boy The Musical for Seacoast Repertory Theatre; the new dark comedy, Many ‘Cides, for NYC’s Prospect Theatre Company; Dracula and Meshuggah-Nuns (Surflight Theatre); My Fair Lady and The Rainmaker (NYC’s Actors’ Comedy Club); The End of You (Penneyseal Productions); Prelude to a Kiss (Boomerang Theatre); Cockfighters (Oberon Theatre); and the Aussie hit He Died With a Felafel in His Hand (Hair of the Dog). She served as the Assistant Director on the Roundabout Theatre Company’s recent Broadway revival of Twentieth Century, starring Alec Baldwin and Anne Heche. Additional credits include: The Grave White Way, Los Angeles; Liberty Smith, NAMT; Death on the Mississippi, Step Lively Productions; and Presumed Retarded, Temerity Theatre. Assistant Directing credits include: Bat Boy The Musical, Union Square Theatre; Carousel at Carnegie Hall, starring Audra McDonald and Hugh Jackman; The Torch Bearers, starring Faith Prince and Marian Seldes, The Drama Department. Upcoming projects include a new musical, The Tutor, for Prospect Theatre Company (presented by the 2005 New York Musical Theatre Festival), and Sky Girls for Cal Rep. Ms. Gurfield is an appointed member of the SDCF’s Artists’ Action Committee, and a graduate of Brown University.
