More Press about KITTENS Ban!

Here’s an article from The St. Petersburg Times about the wacky book-banning goings-on at the Hernando County School Board. Their list of ten fine books to ban from the Nature Coast Technical High School library includes SEX KITTENS AND HORN DAWGS FALL IN LOVE.

Reporter Tom Marshall quotes yours truly as saying:

“Teens have the right to read, to think, to learn, to have access to information and to form their own opinions and values,” (author Maryrose Wood) added. “Teens need to be treated with respect so that they can become intellectually and emotionally prepared for the responsibilities of adulthood and citizenship. I don't agree with adults who think that 'mature' books should be kept out of the hands of young people who are themselves within a stone's throw of adulthood.”

Do check out this article. Two points that it makes that I really want y'all to think about:

- the people who are trying to ban these books HAVE NOT READ THEM.
- the people who are trying to ban these books got the names of these books off of websites put up by other people who WANT TO BAN BOOKS.

Think about it, and tell me what you think.
